Tips for Packing Your Car for a Move

Whether you’re taking your kid to college or moving house yourself, packing your car for a move can be stressful, especially if you drive a small car. How do you move when you have a little Chevy Spark? We have some moving tips that’ll help you get the most out of your vehicle.

First of all, avoid boxes. Instead try vacuum sealing in plastic bags, using trash bags, and investing in plastic storage pins. They stack more easily and have built-in handles for easier transportation. If you do use boxes, go for small sizes so you can fit more in your car. If you have items still in their original packaging, take them out. Original packaging is death to maximizing car space. Consolidate as much as you can.

You should pack in order of importance, especially if moving a long distance. If you have essentials like medication, keep it somewhere easy to reach from the front seat, along with food and water for the drive. Put the most important items in first so you know you’ll have room for them, but this isn’t as necessary if you’re making multiple trips—just organize them in a way that lets you fit the most at one time.

If you can, invest in an overhead luggage carrier to give yourself more room, and make sure your back window is clear enough to see out of. We wish you the best of luck with your move!
